RBD is looking for a Design Manager to lead the design process and quality control of projects. He or she will lead the project team to conceptualize the project as a whole, set the initial design direction and make critical aesthetic decisions throughout the project while incorporating client feedback.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop design sketches, layouts and details

  • Review construction documents and write as needed

  • Review engineering drawings and other consultants to ensure they are in accordance with design intent

  • Realization of custom furniture and carpentry

  • Research and selection of FF&E and FF&A for projects

  • Prepare client FF&E budgets and procurement specifications as needed

  • Serve as the main interface with the client and the consultants regarding project management

  • Lead quality control reviews for projects to confirm that documents meet RBD standards

  • Project management, such as scheduling, task management and meeting minutes

  • Participate in on-site meetings with the owner, consultants and contractors, including installation, if required

CONDITIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior architecture, design or equivalent experience

  • 3 to 6 years of design or architectural experience in the areas of contract, hospitality, architecture or residential design

  • In-depth knowledge of design principles, aesthetics and methodology of space planning and the ability to lead a project independently from start to finish

  • In-depth knowledge of furnishings and finishes

  • Expert sketching and rendering skills

  • Expertise in interior design

  • In-depth knowledge of construction documents and procedures

  • In-depth knowledge of budget preparation and proven ability to manage projects within budget constraints

  • In-depth knowledge of custom furniture and joinery design

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and the Adobe suite

  • Knowledge of Sketch-Up and Studio Designer an asset

  • Knowledge of local and international residential suppliers an asset
