••• Tickets go on sale for AIA Santa Barbara’s ArchitecTours event on October 1, “in-person after a virtual tour in 2021 and a canceled tour in 2020 due to the pandemic. The tour projects include several unique residencies; a contemporary cliffside home on The Mesa [by Winick Architects and pictured above and below; photos by Erin Feinblatt], a remodeled modern farmhouse in downtown Santa Barbara and two homes in Montecito that share a close relationship with their natural surroundings. Additionally, the tour includes several historic building renovations, including the former Hollister Family Office building and the adobe that now houses the Appleton Partners Studio and Architectural Library. In addition, visitors will also have the chance to visit two new multi-family apartment buildings downtown.

••• The northbound Highway 101 exit ramp in Sheffield is now expected to reopen earlier, September 27 (which is the same day the Evans/Lillie Avenue northbound exit ramp closes).

••• The Pad has confirmed the opening of a climbing gym at the Magnolia Center (on Hollister between Turnpike and Patterson).

••• Until September 29 at Caldwell Snyder: the after party, paintings by Vancouver artist Bobbie Burgers. “His large-scale paintings and drawings expand and explode the tradition of floral still life with vivid, gestural flowers. abstract flowers that serve as metaphors for the act of painting, which Burgers compares to the short and fragile lifespan of a flower: a moment to be lived captured “with all its fragility and complexity”.

••• The Cult plays at the Arlington Theater on November 19th. PS Every time I pass by, I think of this post and laugh.

••• One-eighth share of the Pacaso house at 1131 Las Alturas on the Riviera hit the market for $1.575 million, significantly more than the $1.085 million the seller paid a year ago four months. The listing agent is Pacaso’s Chief Acquisitions Officer.

••• An anonymous interior designer (“LWG” is all I’ve been told) is hosting a warehouse sale of items that I imagine have been used to stage homes.
